So I've been asking this over on our Facebook page today...

If I said I was in the mindset at the moment to "think" about looking at some of the other little episodic themes that aren't on either 'Airwolf Extended Themes' or the earlier 'Airwolf Themes', what comes to mind?

A remake of 'ANNIE OAKLEY' is a given, maybe 'THE DEADLY CIRCLE', 'AND A CHILD SHALL LEAD' suite off the top of my head. Others?

As quite a few have said on FB page, Echoes from the Past themes. Sinjin's suite (fast and slow) coupled with Gabrielle's theme during the pilot first meet/ and Echoes dream sequence. I have always found those two themes to be iconic, and was bit surprised the suite wasn't made for AET CD as I figured they are very likable melodies. I like the orchestral version of Gabrielle's theme on both CDS, however, that dream version and pilot version would still be very much appreciated. It will be a great extension to already amazing work you guys have done.

I love the track you've done for Annie Oakley for first CD, I personally think its great as it is. I don't even recall themes for Deadly Circle and Child Shall Lead. I'll have a close listen to see what I missed.

But to be honest, what I have really wanted and dreamt of is you guys doing your own version of Airwolf's battle theme fully extended to at least 7-8 minutes with a chorus to give it a big, cinematic flare grin

Maybe you can take inspiration from Pilot and Echoes finale and compose some spectacular, chorus filled version of yours. It can be a side project eh? It'll be a different treat wink
Would you two consider it?

I agree with Wolf873,

besides that, here are some of my wishes:

- Airwolf main theme (idea of Wolf873) - If you consider this, maybe you can also consider the small theme played at the end. For example: In ECHOS FROM THE PAST, after blowing the 3rd MiG, Hawke asks "Where's the other MiG?" [Theme plays] Dom: "They're heading home, they've had it.". Also used in TO SNARE A WOLF when Dom can't believe Airwolf winded up in a million pieces.

- TO SNARE A WOLF - Bogards theme (This one was planned back in 2004 for AET but omitted for unknown reasons). This is also the theme that is used as Moffet's theme in the Pilot movie.

- SWEET BRITCHES - various main themes played during the episode, like the theme when Airwolf rescues Caitlin from the cowboys, and the theme of the hunters hunting Hawke and be blown away by Airwolf's rotorwash.

- FIRESTORM - various main themes played during the episode, like the one after they left the lair (after the commercial break).

- RANDOM TARGET - Cait's flying lesson (This one was planned back in 2004 for AET but omitted for unknown reasons). Jan mentioned earlier something like "not really special", but I like it a lot.

- DISCOVERY - Clearing the storm. A version of the ascending bridge theme of about 30 seconds with Airwolf clearing the storm, at the beginning of the episode. I'm surprised it didn't show up on Airwolf Themes, while you did something similar for THE HUNTED.

- DAY OF JEOPARDY - the variation on the theme used in INN AT THE END OF THE ROAD.

Now, don't curse me for this: basher whiteflag

- Season 4 themes - Some themes played during episodes like A TOWN FOR HIRE (Special variation of the main theme), WINDOWS, STAVOGRAD, ROGUE WARRIOR, THE KEY, STORM WARNING and MALDUKE. Most of them are ambient themes.

Hope you consider it.

Since there is no such thing as Airwolf Season 4, there is nothing to curse at you about. ;-) laugh

...meaning there'll still be NO Season 4 music from this music label.

You know I've been trying to watching the Canadian show again over the past few months (still some S4 eps I've never seen) and it's a damn chore.

Thanks for your input thus far, fellas. It's very helpful and lots to think about.

Then do it, Jan! grin

I'm sure you can whip it up in matter of weeks for online distribution. I know you can do a perfect re-composition smile.

@ Mark,

Being somewhat of a proponent of season 4, I can say it's not at all that bad. There are few episodes that are difficult to sit through, however, season 2/3 were riddled with similar issues. I really appreciated the fact that they tried their best with what they had and created something in the same vein as season 1. Do your best to watch it smile

To release content in 320 Kbps MP3 after the release of 2 CD's in uncompressed quality feels a bit strange. Besides, on a good stereo you can hear the difference. I prefer to see this also released on CD. It also creates a complete set. If this is not released on CD, please consider FLAC (1411 Kbps) as a format instead of MP3. smile

I can't seem to find the edit-button on my own postings blush , so hear it goes: The theme from Discovery I mentioned earlier is about 45 seconds long. Just watched the episode last night. whistle

Indeed, not all episodes of season 4 are equally great, but episodes like MALDUKE, DEATHTRAIN and WINDOWS are not that bad. But that's maybe for another discussion. I already suggested the music from those episodes, but you also stated that's not very likely to happen. frown

Boss, I pestered Jan (politely) many times to do the opening minimalist theme from 'RANDOM TARGET'. Forgot about the Ascending Bridge equivalent in 'DISCOVERY'. Those would work well. He could even bridge them with Main Theme verses in those styles. Little original work.

Caitlin's Rescue in 'SWEET BRITCHES' would be a good one. A suite from 'FIRESTORM' could be done. The opening desert joyride; the fellas leaving SA before cutting to Airwolf taking off & away from VOTG; the cue you mentioned when we return from commercial. Few others there. The military-band version of the theme, when Jan looks through his binoculars at Ernie and Eddie on the base; him in Airwolf coming over the hill behind the jeeps at the trailer site.

'DAY OF JEOPARDY' remix of 'INN AT THE END' theme could maybe be worked into a suite with the 'GIRL WHO FELL' rework of 'THE HUNTED' melody.

I wouldn't mind seeing Joseph Conlan's material from 'BIRDS OF PARADISE' either. An instrumental version of the opening Dire Straits track, flying over nocturnal LA; the sunset meeting in Kincaid's high-rise nightclub with Isela and Vargas; and the action cue when all hell breaks loose at the sting.

Season 4 ambient themes would be a plus. Despite Mark's disdain for the score and year in general, I still think him or Jan should give a select few a go. See how they fare. There's the demand for it, and they both know I could help with any "sound board" feedback. Wouldn't recommend 'MALDUKE' though. There were better tracks than what Patterson wrote for that.

No Season 4. Period. End of.

I've started 'ANNIE OAKLEY' now in January 2015. Will be just under 6 minutes long this time and made up from the three following sections...

a) Opening scene
b) Dom following Larson in his Cadillac
c) Bike chase against the Mongoose

Excellent! Currently the focus is episodic themes only? If so, have you considered doing Echoes suite?

Maybe.

Jan has one or two extras (non-Main Theme) sitting there already from a few years back, but it's all fluid at the mo and one at a time.

'ANNIE OAKLEY' and 'THE DEADLY CIRCLE' from me first.

We're closing on to the almost complete collection of Airwolf themes :D, though to be fair you guys covered the episodes that actually have good score to compose, rest are negligible.

By the way what are those themes from Jan? Out of curiosity, was Annie Okaley your first Airwolf episode? smile

He's completed one of the Red Castle dance themes from the 'PILOT' for starters. Dunno whether he'd want to release it though, but it sounded pretty much perfect to me back during production when he was frustrating me by getting distracted from one of the Main Themes over a weekend. ;D

I've no intention of doing another "physical" release. If any of these further themes makes it to the end, then they'll be on the eventual "Downloads-only" version of the AET, which we'd hope would be on iTunes & Amazon at the end.

NOT going down the spiral of destruction streaming route either.

Too bad you don't intend to do another "physical" release. It would complement the entire Airwolf Themes collection (maybe also an idea in the end ;)). But I guess a physical release would only be for the die-hard fans, which wouldn't make it a mass-product.

As for a "Downloads-only" version, I hope you consider FLAC-format opposed to MP3. And I hope Amazon won't put up a country-filter with it. mad

Out of curiosity: When can you be sure that the themes you recreate now will make it to the end?

Too expensive and we've still to finish selling this one yet, which I always intended to be a 3-4 year cycle for the physical units (which, let's be blunt are at the premium end of the market in price), to allow the greatest number of AW music fans to find it this time and avoid repeating the disappointment of fans finding out years later after 'Airwolf Themes' sold out originally.

They'll be done when they're done, Bas, like this time. Just want to do them properly and not rush anything out.

The industry software's changed and upgraded a bit since AET came out in 2014, and I've just upgraded to ProTools 11 now that it's at the end of its development / stability cycle, so need to bring everything in line with that too at the moment.

As for Amazon/iTunes, we'd try to make sure it would be as many of their country stores as possible from the main markets for Airwolf.
