Have to say that the old-skool dedicated Airwolf forums (.org, .tv, and I suppose here) are kind of being outmoded nowadays by Social now, especially when you've great, active little FB forums like this one run by Charles Verax: https://www.facebook.com/groups/14936872507/

There are always some interesting new images and articles, that often I've never even seen before.

Worth a second look for the non-Social fans here.

I suppose that it's the next logical evolution from bbs and forum-styled groups.

I guess I'm non-social because as I don't have a Facebook account I am not able to login and view the discussions. Hey ho.

Well, two out of three isn't bad!

Oh thank God, someone besides just me remembers BBSs.

There are definitely times I miss FidoNet.

I started back in the day, pre-internet on the Bulletin Boards back in the mid-80s with a Sinclair Spectrum and 1200/75 baud modem. Ran an Airwolf page on a BBS. Cost me a relative fortune in phone bills in my "yoof". ;D

Mid-80s huh. I REM Oct '88 when I landed a sales job w/ Radio Shack down the street f/ me as a sales assoc.; got fired because my TSP's were like non-existent; Also bought a discontinued Tandy 1100 HD laptop to just start my internet experience; so when websites such as fb & Airwolf Themes pop-up, I'm gonna naturally cringe.

Yeah, but "the Web" only really started properly in 1993-94, you know in the "Nutscrape" days. The mainstream for everyone else only really started with the television ads over the Millennium for various websites, bringing it to the attention of the non-geek masses. Then most had to wait 5-6 years to get their foot on the early 512k ADSL broadband ladder before that it was 56k modems and ISDN (dual 64k line) for the lucky companies who could afford it)

But it would have been about 1997 when it really took off for me as that was the year I found:

- Sylvester Levay
- an engineer to create complicated FM sounds for my Yamaha SY77 synth
- Airwolf Aerial Camera-man, Stan McClain telling me about eBay for the first time
- Finding (in late 1997) I was getting orders by post (out of thin air) for my 'File A56-7W' VADE MECUM Airwolf Association' magazines, mainly from people who visited Tom Erland Sveen and the 19-yo Haakon Kjole's pair of Norwegian Airwolf websites. I'd no idea for the first few months where all those Airwolf Magazine orders were coming from. Once I realised, it piqued my interest to try out the cyber cafe in Belfast.

SEE THE REMNANTS HERE:
http://airwolfthemes.com/airwolf-magazines.html

When I said mid-80s in my post above, I really meant early-to-mid-80s (aprs 'WARGAMES') in 1983. We all thought we were Matthew Broderick back then. LOL.

happy

I kind of doubt you were on the Internet in any capacity in the 1980s, Billy. Non-commercial, non-research access wasn't allowed until the very late 80s at best (not sure of the exact date, but estimating it to be circa '88-'89) and all but the biggest, oldest, and most well-established universities here didn't really have Internet connections to speak of until the early 90s.

BBSs were a completely separate thing and had absolutely nothing to do with the Internet. That they are seen as a precursor to it is simply a historical and thematic kind of thing. They got some number of people "used to" the idea of electronic communication and interaction, people like Mark, like myself, and quite probably like you as well.

In January 2014 when I joined the Airwolf Facebook Group, there were 112 members.

As of tonight (at time of writing) there are now TEN TIMES that number in just 10 months.

It has some big exclusives too this year.
