MoffettRules: Not so much a script idea, but as far as writing scripts go, check out Celt X. It's an open-source script-writing program that I used in some college classes I took (including a theater class) and it will make it very easy to do professional scripts.

Note: They just changed their web site, and in order to go anywhere you have to initially create a free user account with them. I just had to do it myself so I could check the link above, and also update to the latest version on my Mac. They make versions for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux. They have product images showing iPads, so I'm guessing maybe they also distribute through Apple's App Store. Anyhow, just thought I'd add this.

Now, as regarding writing scripts, it sounds like a fun project. Nobody in the entertainment industry will take it seriously even for a split-second, but it would be a great project to work on. And, it would let us get our passions, our frustrations, our day vexations out and perhaps produce a thing of brilliance.

Call this bizzare but I'd cast Lorenzo Lamas, pilot and Dennis Franz, co. given AIRWOLF's cybornetic nature! Vietnam or wat...?

Location set 2 U.S. Embassy in Afganistan; hide The Lady in the mtns,(the wolf's new lair - any of Bin-Laden's old hideouts). The parody is the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor & how overwhelmed we already were. Storyline is combating international terrorism and The Firm is the peacemaker!!!

But then why would the world of 2012 need an Airwolf when we have Reapers, Predators or the big Global Hawks, all of which can stay up in the air for up 2 full days?

It wouldn't make any sense in this modern era of Apache gunships too.

Dr Hansen's prediction (by the episode's writer & producer, Tom S. Cook) in 'MOFFETT'S GHOST' of "In 20 years, the way you fly, will be obsolete!" is coming truer and truer every day.

airwolf was originallly for a cia tactical force to infiltrate different areas of enemy insurgence and such that was the original purpose. eventually her roles evolved due to the climate change in the world but she was always a multirole capable helicopter with many different areas that she could be applied to.

Do not remake Airwolf! Most remakes are bloody awful. Airwolf was big, fast, big guns, lots of huge manly explosions and manly characters. Not for today's politically correct generation. Shocking!
I would also definitely NOT want it in the UK or Europe! I am an Englishman but something like Airwolf is very definitely American. Sure, have some of its tech wizards or nasty villains as British (we are the best bad guys aren't we? I mean look at Moffet!) but somehow I can't imagine something like Airwolf racing over Chipping Norton. Health and Safety for one!

As I also mentioned privately - the likes of Robert Redford as Archangel, Lorenzo Lamas as string & Dennis Franz as Dom does seem a bit far fetched. But an AIRWOLF is vigilant these days as long as bullet-proof vests still work! Hmmm... no points for WAR savvy.

ITV or the BBC would never touch it, plain and simply the cost would be huge.

For its time Airwolf was extremely expensive to make, with the way things are today no network/studio are taking chances with expensive shows.

Universal brought back several of their shows, only one surivived and that was Battlestar Galactica.

The Bionic Woman was dropped only after a couple of episodes, Knight Rider was cancelled after a season.

Now at the moment everyone is watching to see what the new Hiawi 5-0 does, so far its doing well last I heard. The new Wonder Woman is currently being made, again time will tell on that one.

Given how twitchy networks and studios are at the moment cant see it happening.

With Battlestar being the only sucess to date in doing a remake properly.

Plus you have to look at the type of shows both ITV and BBC develop, Airwolf wouldnt fit in.

Now maybe something simillar, not a direct remake, but an experimental weapon of some kind may stand a chance, but aquiring Airwolf and bringing it here, although not impossible, just highly unlikely given the costs to just aquire the license alone to do it would be huge and then all the development work of the machines.

If they did their own creation, then that would work as it would be their own format under their own house. They would have full control, end of the day Airwolf is a Universal property and cant see them giving that up, as its still a form of revenue for them.

Interesting idea though, but I would rather see them come up with something of their own, and have their own style of synth music etc.

We brits are very good at developing our own thing.

So something purely british would be far better than re-dressing an original format.

Agreed, SuperWolf3000!

You brits excel at creating your own content and as an American who frequently watches British tv programs, I would love to see what you guys come up with your own Airwolf equivalent. smile
