I know you guys are concentrating on this whole "extended arrangement" of the Main Theme variations, but have or did you's consider ever doing those and the episodic suites as individual cues/tracks, with their lengths matching exactly to those originally heard in the actual episodes?

Just listened to the entire newly-released "JAG" album, and the 'PILOT' score was amazing, unlike the 2nd or 3rd Season episode suite they chose to accompany it, and that was individual cues. The various Gerry Anderson albums available both commercially and through Fanderson are also cue-based, and they are all phenomenal.

If anything, it would save you's time on thinking of how to extend the originals, going as far as to adding effects on-top of them, and would sound more like an "official" studio soundtrack, even though you have the Universal licence, since every Film and Television OST has been cue-based and track-listed in the order they are heard in the final cut, and not connected together where there's no "breathing space", if you will. Just a thought guys.

Thanks for the suggestion Marty, but no, definitely not.

I've always felt that soundtrack music should stand on its own and be allowed to work as a track in its own right. To my mind there's nothing more boring than a 14-second music cue without the visuals and sound FX to back it up in its original context. Nothing ever gets going.

It was done for KNIGHT RIDER and most others I know; I listened to them once and set it back up on the shelf. zzzzzzzzzzzz
Airwolf's music was unique in its "tune of the week" approach at the time (you compare any of Mike Post or Don Peake's work to Sly & Udi's and I know which ones you'll be listening to time and time again) and that is what my (blinkered) against-the-grain mindset on it has always been... and dare I say most likely always will be.

Fair enough then Mark. I didn't mean for it to be done like the recent "JAG" album, which as you point out, does contain cues lasting just seconds (with only one being notable; the specially-composed commercial break sting for CBS); more in line with the Gerry Anderson releases, which you have to admit, were put together brilliantly and with substantial wisdom/experience; mastering, booklet content, artwork and disc design, etc, just like AWT (and no, I'm not kissing your arse, like some members of this forum blatantly do). Having typed that, I've got a question; did Gerry (Forrester) insist on those high "production values", having worked on those GA LP's, or was it a mutual agreement on supreme-quality?

Gerry (Forrester) and I had the same goal in the end, to make it the best it could be. He concentrated on dealing with Sly's CD and I did my own.

The recent release Gerry F. did for STAR FLEET (new website still under construction), that I did the cover for, was in conjunction with the same Fanderson guy that did all the Gerry Anderson stuff (but he pulled out for personal reasons at the last minute leaving Gerry F. holding the baby), thus I'd to step in to finish it. It was Gerry's own pet project from the start (working with the Moody Blues' Paul Bliss) and I was only involved at the very end... and from now on with the global marketing of it (once the official site is up).

It has stalled a bit in the past 4 months due to my other existing commitments and schedules (and I'm back on Airwolf Extended Themes again at the mo too, as is Jan, for another push), but I'm planning on getting my web guys around the table again next week for a further development push (they've been waiting on me doing the grunt work and giving them the content). It'll be another hum-dinger site once its up. ;D

Defo later 2011! I'd foreseen that last year with the AWT Promo Videos anyway. http://www.youtube.com/markjcairns

Just too many other things going on [incl. one or two other Airwolf-related things that are imminently about to come out wink ] in 2010 so far in both sets of studios in Poland and Northern Ireland!

It has been a busy and land-mark year for both so far, which is great. It's just that life is busier nowadays, and time-management is more acute to eek more out of every single day.
