Where's our all-new 30-minute retrospective with cast and crew interviews? Bellisario's first aerial show, "TALES OF THE GOLD MONKEY", is also getting the bonus material treatment; http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Tales-Gold-Monkey-DVDs-Planned/12971

Oh wow.... class.

I've personally been watching STREET HAWK every morning (I'm really into it again - have Bravo off-air copies on DV tape - really loving it this time) at breakfast for the past month or so (in between 7th Season '24'), so knowing that the British company, Fabulous Films are hopefully doing it (they also did the brilliant 'STARFLEET' puppet animation show I mentioned on an earlier thread in the previous Mk1 AWT Forum, as well as 'THE MYSTERIOUS CITIES OF GOLD', 'MONKEY', 'THE RACCOONS'. One of my favourites that is coming up as well is 'THE LITTLEST HOBO') it should be excellent. Downside to this is that they probably haven't worked with Universal Licensing before [so that'll add about a year to the project - LOL].

The London-based guys (they also have an L.A.-based subsidiary) that run it all grew up in the decade so focus on shows that were big hits on 1980s TV (especially what was big here in the UK) and look for niche markets. I love their work.

Their Acquisition Director is David Schwartz -- davidschwartz@fabulousfilms.com so ask him yourself, Marty!

I'm personally hoping that Fabulous embrace the BluRay markets in a few years time when it has hit a bigger critical mass and *THEN* and only then have the chance to do 'Airwolf'. Something else to discuss with them.

No way, no way, I can't believe it!!! jawdrop Street Hawk finally coming to DVD!? Please, let it happen. I was so disappointed at the cancellation of Werewolf DVD but this would really cheer me up, here's hoping Street Hawk encounters no problems whatsoever with its release.

Hopefully if Street Hawk is coming to DVD, I hope they consider releasing other shows like Manimal, Highwayman, and Automan on DVD as well. They were all fun to watch, even though they were cheesy.

How you finding "24"? I personally loved the 3rd Season. The 1st was excellent too. And the 7th was just to die for. Very old school "Airwolf"-esque production values, don't you think? Gregory Barnett, who won his first industry stuntman award on 'ANNIE OAKLEY', was the Stunt Coordinator on the 2nd and 3rd Seasons.

Do you know him personally? I don't know what to say. I can't understand how Universal would let them take their shows, and release them.

jawdrop Street Hawk on DVD now thats going to be a must have boxset cant wait for that.

Good to see another fellow 24 fan Marty, yeah its one awsome show, I got season 7 for crimbo, havent got round to watching it, just finished season 8 of Smallville.

The 24 soundtrack which has the music from seasons 1-3 is excellent and includes the remix to the main theme, awsome cd.

Yeah season 3 of 24 is excellent, but season 6 was superb. 24 displays some excellent aerials too.

Darn! It hasn't appeared in US or Canadian Amazon website yet. I hope it's released alongside UK's release.

Just ordered it off Amazon UK this evening. I'd hope it'll be out concurrently, or at least very shortly worldwide. Try one of the other outlets, or visit Fabulous Film's website in case there are details there. They also have a Facebook page.

Can hardly believe it's coming out after all these years. Will stay tuned to Fabulous' site to hear when Bellisario's 'TALES OF THE GOLD MONKEY' is out, as their next big release. I've only distant recollections of seeing that one as a kid as it was never repeated anywhere in the UK after its initial run.

Here's what's on it. The Documentary has been extended by over 10 minutes more for starters...

* Never-before-seen (in the UK) 'Pilot' featuring different Street Hawk firepower (73 mins)
* "Street Hawk, The Making of a Legend" - A brand new documentary Featuring Rex Smith, Joe Regalbuto and Jeannie Wilson (41 mins)
* 8 Page Collectors Booklet
* Stills Galleries
* Biographies
* Episode descriptions
* Stunning Motion Menus

Mine dropped through the letterbox this morning, so guess what I've been watching tonight?

Has anyone else noticed that the Street Hawk DVDs are in NTSC and not PAL?

I wasn't aware of this at first but, when I started playing it, the picture exhibits an almost-imperceptible "jerking" (no one else in the house notices it, but it gives me a headache - it's noticeable on my Hunter R1 DVDs too).

Fortunately, these days I transfer from DVD to my media player to get better quality out to my 32" full-HD flat screen. As soon as I found the setting to output 60Hz rather than 50Hz from the media box, the picture got so much smoother (not perfect but 90% better).

Confused, I checked the discs back on my PC and a normal DVD (such as DS9) lists the episodes as "720x576 (PAL)" but the Street Hawk DVD lists the episodes as "720x480 (NTSC)". I double-checked this with my PC's DVD software (WinDVD) and, where it normally lists "720x576" at 25Hz, for Street Hawk it lists "720x480" at 29.970Hz. Definitely NTSC.

Anyone else noticed this? It may cause problems for those with older DVD players and/or older TVs. My own DVD player doesn't handle NTSC too well so it's fortunate that I can transfer the DVDs to my media player prior to watching them (even though this is probably illegal).

I can't find anything anywhere on the sleeve that says either "PAL" or "NTSC" - just the Region 2 symbol. Other DVDs (such as the aforementioned DS9) place "PAL" beneath the Region 2 symbol.

My DVDs came from Amazon.co.uk. The box is different to the image shown in Mark's post. It's not a square-corner box as shown above, it's a normal [naughty-policed] plastic 4-way DVD case with a normal printed sleeve slipped in. It does not say "4 DVD" at the top right but it does have the Universal logo on the bottom left. The spine is also slightly different. After the text "The Complete Series", it has (reading down) the Universal logo, then the DVD video logo, then the PG triangle, and then number FHED2669. Otherwise the graphics are the same - it's just the addition of the Universal logo that's different.

Any thoughts?

Bought mine today from HMV. Packaging and artowrk is pretty good. The collector's booklet is NOT 8 pages, and isn't a collector's style one either. All it has is very brief episode descriptions, and primary cast and crew credits (writer, director, [naughty-policed] stars).

The menus I don't like at all. They are motion and animated, but alot more effort could of been put in to make them as good as the menu Universal-Playback did for the Volume 1 and 2 DVD's of "Airwolf".

The prints Fabulous have acquired of "Street Hawk" are the same ones that Bravo acquired, and sadly, significantly colourless and dull, except for the odd episodde. Surely, Universal has re-mastered the show by now, to the same vibrant, lively standard that they've re-mastered all the old shows, including "Airwolf"? Or Fabulous were unable to acquire those re-mastered prints? Nevertheless, the sound quality is good.

Watched the first half hour of the documentary, and I just thought it was so boring, except for a few andecotes from Rex about memories on the set, and "The Dirty Dozen" camera crew, which I can relate to on some level, since I've met a fair few professional camera guys in the industry. But seriously though, Clark could do a much better job at producing a documentary of this type. The running time could of been cut down by at least 5 minutes, instead of padding out interviews with various clips from the show (all of which are stretched to match the 16:9 widescreen shot interviews, when really, they should of zoomed-into the clips, so that it doesn't look [naughty-policed] and amateurish).

The photo galleries are average, as are the series and episode synopses. I would of much rather had Fabulous record an audio commentary or two, with the regular cast, for the 'PILOT' and perhaps 'A SECOND SELF' (which [naughty-policed]-starred George Clooney, and who Rex, Joe and Jeannie talked about in the doc.) I so wish Clark could do this for "Airwolf". Imagine that; Borgnine, Bellisario and (Alan J.) Levi, commentating on the whole two-hour 'PILOT: SHADOW OF THE HAWKE' episode. Just dreaming.

At least now though, "Street Hawk" is available completely uncut, instead of us having to resort to VHS recordings of the Bravo re-runs a good few years back, which had various gunfire muzzle flash shots omitted for such stupid reasons, probably in case they were reported for causing epileptic fits, but then, they would keep the more flashy bike machine-gun close-ups in.

I finished going through the boxset from start to finish, I have to say I rather enjoyed the documentry, over-all I thought Fabulous Films did a pretty good job with the boxset.

The show's now finally in Region 1 (from 13th July) as well, so the US and Canadian fans can finally enjoy it.

It maybe me, but it seems like they have replaced some of the cover songs. I remember hearing an instrumental version of Born in the USA on the episode with George Clooney. I can see if I can find my old vhs to confirm. There was some other times when the music sounded better which I assumed the music was replaced.

All those shows at the time (with exception to VICE) used "cover" versions of the music. Even Airwolf is totally re-done. You think it's Dire Straits singing "MONEY FOR NOTHING" in 'Birds of Paradise' but it was session players and a cover band all along. It was future-proofing to make sure there were no future music rights issues... unlike with VICE' DVDs as they were delayed for 3 years whilst Universal negotiated the music rights with all those original artists. Ouch!
